As many of you are aware, our charity partner for the past 2 years has been ‘The Mayor’s Fund for London’. We were thrilled to be invited to City Hall this month to meet the team and have the opportunity to participate in one of their initiatives. ‘City Pitch’ provides the opportunity for young Londoners to make a difference by pitching their ideas to help their local community as well as develop vital project management and presentation skills in front a panel of expert judges. After taking our seats we were met with the delightful hosts Matthew and Shante who introduced the judges and contestants including Jamal Edwards MBE, City Pitch Ambassador and SBTV Founder! It was a fantastic occasion to hear more about what ‘The Mayor’s fund for London’ does and the workshops these children are participating in. We crowned the delightful Fran as our Cheval cake decorating contest winner! Her ghoulishly fun cupcakes were the talk of the office all day! Here's what she had to say: 'It’s always amazing winning but in this case it's extra special as it’s for a great cause; raising money for Mayors Fund for London .  I have always loved baking, so it’s very rewarding knowing that others appreciate your cooking  as much as you do.' Today we have raised £59.62 with far more funds to follow from other participants and debtors (you know who you are!) For those of you who have been keeping up with our other social media platforms you may have noticed we have elected the Mayor’s Fund for London as our 2014/15 charity of the year! So far we have raised just over £13,500 however we hope to raise much more in the coming months. Small pockets of poverty prevails in all of London’s 33 boroughs, this wonderful charity gives young Londoners the skills and opportunities to escape this poverty and succeed in finding a decent job and play a part in London’s future. The Mayor’s Fund focuses on three priorities to make itself a roaring success: Health and wellbeing – The Mayor’s Fund runs breakfast clubs in 50 London schools so hungry children can start the day full and ready to learn. Skills – 6,500 young Londoners are improving their literacy and numeracy with help from The Mayor’s Fund.
