Volupte – Burlesque Club

Image
According to its website, Volupt é is a world of decadence and delight, the most decadent little super club in town. The burlesque club nestled in the heart of the City's legal district is the perfect place to kick back and indulge in a night of debauched entertainment. The small bar at ground level and the cocktail menu features a fruity and fabulously playful menu of drinks inspired by traditional sweets. One wall of the bar is dedicated to this, and looks like a traditional Victorian sweet shop. Pick the sweet you love the most, and the drink will be made in its honour. After drinks we are led through velvet curtains into the show room; a low-ceiling, secluded, basement room steeped in old school glamour. The set up at Volupté is a three course dinner, with waiter service for drinks, all to the backdrop of entertainment throughout the evening. The starters (Teasers) were a sharing plate of mini dishes including salads, soup and seafood. The entertainment began shortly aft...

London's trendsetting restaurants

Image
We are always thrilled when a list of good things is released and London is featured in it. Editors of   Budget Travel   magazine have come up with a list of 10 trendsetting, international eateries which have helped shape the culinary landscape by introducing diners to concepts like New Nordic cuisine, gastropub fare, and local foods. While the list is US-heavy, with six of the 10 restaurants hailing from America, other eateries mentioned include addresses in Copenhagen, Paris and what we were certainly hoping for, London, with 3 restaurants. The list is decidedly different from other ‘best of’ lists like Restaurant magazine’s World’s 50 Best Restaurants, which shares just one name in common — Noma in Denmark. Here are the London trendsetting restaurants according to Budget Travel magazine: St. John, London Chef: Fergus Henderson Food movement: Nose to tail eating The Eagle, London Chefs: variety Food movement: Gastropub   Pret a Manger, London Sandwich ch...
