Don't want to cook on Christmas Day?

Arguably the best part of Christmas is the food! But we don’t always have the time to whip up course after course of deliciousness! A few fantastic restaurants in London are open on the big day but remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Here are our top picks of where to find a big fat plate of turkey and stuffing on December 25th.

Dean Street Townhouse
69-71 Dean Street, London, W1D 3SE
Price: £95

This Soho all-dayer is always pretty buzzy, but its Georgian rooms are particularly suited for twinkly festive gatherings. At £95, it’s at the pricier end of Christmas Day meals, but this includes an introductory glass of champagne, and coffee, mince pies and truffles to finish. In between there’s a delicious-sounding spread of classic British dishes – from pressed ham with piccalilli, to tipsy sherry trifle, via roast rib of Hereford beef with Yorkshire pudding. Turkey and Christmas pud are on offer for traditionalists.

Chutney Mary
535 King's Road, SW10 0SZ
Price: £85

So, you don’t want turkey and trimmings but you still want a sense of occasion? How about some comfy seats and cosseting staff? This old girl may have the answer. Moments from Chelsea’s Imperial Wharf, Chutney Mary combines an unusual setting (particularly if you sit in the conservatory room, which has a tree growing through the middle and dwarf palms fringing its sides) with polite service and a mildly spiced menu with Anglo-Indian tones. Expect the likes of spiced soup or vegetable kebabs to start, with several options for your main, including beautifully seasoned meat and fish. Then cast yourself back to the days of the Raj.

Hoxton Grill
81 Great Eastern Street, EC2A 3HU
Price: £78

To avoid slaving over a hot oven come Christmas Day, head to the restaurant at the Hoxton Hotel. In addition to the usuals (cured salmon, roast turkey plus trimmings), you could lead with pressed ham hock, ahead of fillet of beef with wild mushrooms or halibut with leeks and salsify. Desserts are equally inviting, with chocolate and orange parfait alongside the more traditional mince pies, stilton and Xmas pud options. Veggies are catered for, with Jerusalem artichoke and truffle oil soup ahead of roast butternut squash, lentils and chestnuts. Yum.
