Seasons Greetings From Cheval Residences!

Time is most definitely money

Image
We all know time is money especially when staying in a busy metropolis. Cue ‘Ziferblat’, an eccentric pay per minute café experience offering free coffee and wifi in exchange for a mere five pence per minute. The quirky East London café obscurely named after ‘clock face’ in Russian, requires guests to borrow an eclectically quaint alarm clock, take note of arrival time and set the alarm for the desired ‘clock out’ time before paying their pennies on exit. Seen as a social experiment, ‘Ziferblat’ aims to build a community of people who want to use their space ‘to create something interesting’, allowing customers to do whatever they like as long as they respect the building and the people within it. Consumers are encouraged to be themselves; to work, to create art, to read or to get acquainted with likeminded people. The café aims to be a home away from home just like us at Cheval Residences with each visitor devel...

NikeFuel Map - Discover London walking (and earning points!)

Image
All Cheval Residences are in the path of the Nikefuel Map London! London is a beautiful city and with an amazing transport system. Although this two caracteristics are all we look for in a city, sometimes they can get in the way of each other: how can you profit from the outside, if you're inside a tube station? Not to mentioned that it can makes us lazy. Let's be honest, who never got in the tube for a one station ride? Shame on us! That's not very healthy. Thinking about that and how to put more sport into our lives, +Nike  made the NikeFuel Map London. Under the premise that "Life is a sport. Make it count",  Nike have reinvented the London Tube Map to highlight the fitness rewards of walking overground between stations. Download the map here . Nike have assigned each distance its corresponding NikeFuel point score, meaning the relatively short 330m journey from Covent Garden to Leicester Square could either cost you £4.5 in tube fair or ...

Explore UK: County of Yorkshire - the perfect way to start next autumn

Image
Yorkshire Dales National Park Cheval Thorney Court has that classic English deco everybody loves! London is one of the best cities in the world. We have parks, museums, shopping, awesome restaurants, a royal baby... But there's only one thing we don't have: the small village feel. Yeah, that's impossible. For a weekend away, but not too far that you would miss London (it only takes a couple of days for that nostalgic feeling to kick in): the County of Yorkshire. A little under 4 hours from London and the perfect getaway, industry experts named the county of Yorkshire – the largest in England — the best destination on the continent at the World Travel Awards in Antalya, Turkey last week. While it’s been forever immortalized in English literature as a tertiary character in Emily Bronte’s 19th century classic “Wuthering Heights,” today the region has carved out a reputation as being a gastronomic destination with six Michelin-starred restaurants in the co...

A Tube Station Themed Bar for the London Design Festival

Image
Cheval Calico House is a few metro stops from New Oxford Street. You may even have already seen or gone into some pop-up bar (we love pop up things in London) but this is certainly different. For the London Design Festival , a pop-up bar in New Oxford Street, themed as a metro station will serve London's Camden Town Brewery beer, but there will be some other foods and drinks as well, all in designjuction . Obviously, the nerd within us is excited about the prospect of drinking in a bar as a tiled subway station. Camden Town Brewery already has its own bar in Kentish Town and will soon have a microbrewery on site, so if you like the beer brand, you know you will be in good hands. But the pleasure is not just in beer. An Italian coffee directed by the ice cream vendor Gelupo, which recently named as probably the best gelateria in London, will also be on site. Enjoy a gelato with a prosecco or coffee La Marzocco in your corner on designjunction, which will be furnished...

Heritage Open Days in England

Image
Cheval Hyde Park Gate is close to many historical sites, including the iconic Westminster Abbey. From the 12th to the 15th September 2013, Europe will have the European Heritage Days . But what is it?  Heritage Open Days or European Heritage Days (EHD) is an annual programme that offers opportunities to visit buildings, monuments and sites, many of which are not normally accessible to the public. It aims to widen access and foster care for architectural and environmental heritage. These events are also known as Doors Open Days and Open Doors Days. A little history? The event began in France in 1984, with La Journée Portes Ouvertes, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture. In 1985, in Granada, at the 2nd European Conference of Ministers responsible for Architectural Heritage, the French Minister of Culture proposed that the project be internationalised under the Council of Europe. The Netherlands held their first Open Monumentendag in 1987. Sweden and the Republic of ...

Rare whisky collection from The Dalmore created for Harrods

Image
Cheval Knightsbridge is just a few minutes from  +Harrods   Scottish distillery The Dalmore has partnered with Harrods to launch The Dalmore Paterson Collection, named after master distiller Richard Paterson who assessed, nosed, tasted and selected each whisky blend for the lot of a dozen bottles. The price tag for the world’s only collection of its kind? A cool £987,500.  Whiskies range in date from 1926 to the 1990s and make up a surprisingly personal collection linked to Paterson. Bottles are named after either important figures in Paterson’s life such as his father and grandfather, as well as James Whyte and Charles Mackay, the founders of The Dalmore’s parent company. Richard Paterson Bottles are handcrafted, full lead crystal decanters made by crystal house Glencairn, while luxury jeweler Hamilton & Inches hand-engraved the silver that embellishes the bottles. All 12 bottles are presented in a wooden case that took cabinet maker Gavin Ro...

A Londoner's Beauty Summer Kit

Image
The Post Festival Recovery Kit by Hayley Cheval Gloucester Park has a Boots nearby. We wait all year for the summer to enjoy the best of the open air. But staying more outside means more time standing up, less sleep, more time in the sun and a lot more walking. And that can make us look tired... which is not at all the face of summer. London beauty queen +Hayley Carr  set up what she calls a "post festival recovery kit", as in London summer = music festivals everywhere (and we love it).  But we thought this selection is also good for every summer event, perfect to make you look fresh all season long. And the best? You can find all the products in London, some in stores like Boots, which we can find everywhere in the city. Here are the selected products in Hayley's words: 1. For The Hair:   Matrix Biolage Delicate Care Masque £12.50 As much of a saviour as dry shampoo is, there's only so many times you can use it without your hair refusing to do...

Tips to make the perfect Brunch

Image
Cheval Three Quays is going to have the perfect view for a nice brunch! Opening in 2014 Last week we talked about the best places to have Brunch in London . Because it is such a summer-kind of meal, we decided to stay in the subject. Unfortunately, not always the sun comes out on the weekends and we have to face a gray, or even rainy, Saturday and Sunday (which should be forbidden during the Summer). And then we just want to stay in bed... But should this mean no Brunch?? NO!!  So, if you decide to make a delicious Brunch at your own, we can help you with some tips. Remember that in every apartment of Cheval Residences, you can find a fully equipped kitchen!  To make a good Brunch, it is necessary that the products are extremely fresh. A good tip to keep them at the right temperature is to use bowls with ice, which in addition to practical, will make a special touch in your decor. Because it is a junction between two main meals, the Brunch tends to be a...

The best places to enjoy Brunch in London this summer

Image
Duck & Waffle Cheval Three Quays  is close to Duck & Waffle Restaurant.  Brunch -  is a meal eaten between breakfast and lunch, and is a substitute for both these meals. The word is a portmanteau of breakfast and lunch. Now THAT'S what we call a fantastic invention.  Brunch is a ritual that fits summer perfectly. Either on Saturday to start the weekend or on Sunday for a late breakfast after a night out, brunch is a moment to relax and enjoy the best of the weekend. Here are some of the best places to have brunch in London: Caravan , Clerkenwell Caravan offers a weekend brunch menu to rival any in London in a relaxed and effortlessly cool setting on Exmouth Market in Clerkenwell. The New Zealand influenced restaurant has its own coffee roaster, so flat whites are very popular too.  The open plan layout and double facing glassed front make this an ideal location for enjoying a vibrant part of London.  Caravan has a second outpost ...
