The Cheval Residences Long Service Awards 2015

Image
We recently held the Cheval Residences Long Service Awards at Cheval Hyde Park Gate, an annual celebration recognising long standing colleagues who have spent 5, 10, 15 and even 20 years with the company. The remarkable dedication of our colleagues called for an afternoon of well-deserved festivity with delicious canapés, Cheval recognition pins, a Certificate of Appreciation and even a glass or two of bubbles! Those receiving awards had a collective of 210 years served over the past 20 years and we would love to thank everyone who attended for their diligence, precision and care. Here are some fab testimonials from a few of the attendees… “The Long Service Awards was a great opportunity to celebrate with colleagues, and take inspiration from those who have been at Cheval for considerably longer than me.  It is also a great chance to hear some lovely comments from our teams, even if in my case I was also reminded about how appalling my golf handicap is!” -  Mike...

My day with the Maintenance team at Cheval Thorney Court

Image
Cheval Thorney Court offers some of our largest and most spacious apartments at 2,500 square feet / 232 square meters which is more than 12 times the size of your average hotel room! This residence embodies classic English charm and is located on the border of Kensington Gardens. Being our most seasoned residence, it embodies a charismatic flair that would only feel right in London. Cheval Thorney Court like the 7 other Cheval Residences is unique and embodies the same customer ethos and excellent service levels we are renowned for throughout the Group. I spent a day with Maintenance Supervisor, Les, and team-mates Bono, Martin and Darren in the maintenance department and learnt just how a well-oiled machine like this residence operates. Les’ time at Cheval started 5 years ago when he was employed on a temporary maintenance cover, and quickly impressed to become a   permanent fixture. He enthuses over the big changes that have happened to this residence over the past few year...

Concierge - Never a dull moment

Image
With exactly 99 apartments and 23 years of steep history, Cheval Gloucester Park is a London landmark in the making. Currently sitting at #2 in TripAdvisor’s ‘Specialty Lodging’ category, this residence has all the bells and whistles of a five star home in the big city. I recently had the pleasure of spending a day with Head Concierge Carlos and his team, Karol, Ali and Ned. The guys love being a pivotal part of the guest experience, helping to create the homely atmosphere Cheval is renowned for. With 12 hour shifts and shorter working weeks, life is never dull!  Arriving at 8am, an hour before my usual start to the day. The first thing I experienced was the daily handover, where the team discusses guest requirements, upcoming fire safety inspections and Carlos also reminds the team to encourage guests to leave TripAdvisor feedback as they are determined to claim Cheval Three Quays’ #1 position! Once the meeting has finished, the team go about their morning routine, ...

Behind the Scenes at Cheval Three Quays - Part 1

Image
As I approach my one year anniversary at Cheval Residences, I really wanted to learn more about the people behind the face of Cheval Three Quays. Like most of us, I am fascinated by this unique residence and wanted to learn about the personalities that make up the team. I spent the morning with the fabulous Louise, Head Housekeeper at Cheval Three Quays. I have to say I was heartened to see how much attention to detail and love my colleagues invest in their roles. We started the day with a meeting, learning all about manual handling (remember: bend your knees, not your back!) Then we were allocated apartments to clean as well as the ‘job of the day’. It may have been a small job, but it makes all the difference. Today’s task just so happened to be descaling the sink. I realised just how much energy and effort goes into the upkeep of our residences and it was great to see this first hand! I believe it’s the finer details that really do matter. Walls are ‘to...

Meet the Reservations team!

Image
Nasim, Fabio and Federica. Our wonderful Reservation Agents at Cheval Residences can be reached on  +44 (0)20 7341 7052. My name is Nasim , I am German from Lebanese origin that moved to London to study and work at the age of 17 and ended up staying and falling in love with this city. I have worked in several London 5 star hotels before and joined the Cabin Crew sector for a year working for Emirates and living in Dubai. Besides being bilingual in German and Arabic, I am keen on learning French again as I currently understand the language but find it hard to articulate myself appropriately. Favourite Cheval Residence and why? My favorite Cheval Residence is Cheval Harrington Court, not only because of its location and surroundings, but also because its comfortably understated yet elegant colors and décor fit the simplicity and beauty of the artistic and historical hub that is South Kensington. Lets plant some #TowerPoppies!

Image
We at Cheval Residences had a wonderful time volunteering our afternoon yesterday at the Tower of London. Team members from sales, marketing, concierge, housekeeping and management spent the afternoon productively making and planting poppies in the moat of the tower. Upon arriving we joined the volunteer queue, it was wonderful to see so many eager and willing people wanting to make a difference! As well as Team Cheval and many individuals, we also spotted Team Santander, it was great to see another large corporation volunteering their time. After a health and safety briefing and short video we were ready to construct!  Teams were split in two, the assemblers and the planters. The assemblers would place large and small plastic washers on a metal rod before finishing with a plastic base and cap to keep the poppies in place and prevent any from coming undone. The assemblers would then hand these ‘poppy rods’ to the planters to fill the moa...
